Our background

Ioanna Palamidous studied Biomedical Sciences (Queen Mary University of London (hons.)), Clinical Neurosciences (MSc (Hons.) at UCL London (UCL) and Creative Practice: Dance professional pathway at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London between 2015-2020.
Influx was an idea that gradually grew on her originating from her need to create a space (not a physical one, yet) that allows her to combine the different movement practices and methods she follows for her own movement needs and enjoys to share Therefore, the flow (the state of being in flux) that manifests movement and exists in every persons life, takes shape and is practice through a mind-body approach, informed by neuroscience, that Ioanna takes on her teaching. This is the space where anyone and everyone can come into being and allow themselves to live consciously having their roots into any type of movement.
Ioanna is always interest in how our brain interacts with movement, how it controls it and how movement is learned. Moreso, how these two aspects exist in health and disease and how their interaction can potentially act preventatively in neurodegenerative states. As a result, even in her more technical classes she tries to find ways to train the body through the nervous system (although we cannot train one without the other).
She has studied and completed internships on neurodegenerative disease research and the mapping of brain areas involved in motor output along Marios Politis (King’s College London– 2017/-18) and George Samandouras (Neurosurgeon at UCLH, 2020).
Since 2020 she resides in Thessaloniki where she works as a ballet and contemporary dance teacher, Franklin method and pilates instructor. She also enjoys to organise retreats and workshops for the community. Since, 2021 she teaches at the yearly professional training course "Synaski", in Athens, established by Georgia Paizi.
As a dancer she has collaborated with the creative group "die-wolke" , Stella Mastorostergiou and Konstantinos Katsamakis, the latest production of which is "Chat" (2023).
She has been dancing ballet and contemporary (Release technique) since she was very young. She holds certifications from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) in London up to Advanced 1. In 2018, she began to systematically participate in somatic workshops and embodied classes as well as contact improvisation. She has attended seminars with well-known teachers of various embodiment techniques and methods [ Skinner Releasing technique (G. Agis, K. Alexander, Florence Peake), Alexander Technique (G. Paizi), Authentic Movement (A. Borris, B. Legakis), Body-mind centering ( BB Cohen, K. Dymoke), Focusing (F. Bock), Franklin Method (T. Waldron), improvisation, Improv. and experiential anatomy (Charlie Morrissey, AG Thiriot, R. Holgate-Smith, R. Jaroschinski, R. Nodine, Franklin method (Tom Waldron and Eric Franklin and others) aspects of which she interlaces with her own practices.
In 2019, she also became more familiar with yoga and alternative methods of psychosomatic therapy through the conference "Movement and Music in Therapy" at UCL, "THE EMBODIED YOGA SUMMIT" online and the "SATI Dynamic" practice alongside Evi Choutou, the founder of the practice, whome she follows as a friend and mentor up to this day.
In 2020 -2024 she certifies as a:
-
Franklin method instructor the fascia of the lower back and Franklin method instructor (level 1),
-
pre and post-yoga instructor (Anahata yoga academy) and pre-natal fitness instructor (L1) by Sia Sourladani and the studio Human body intelligent,
-
pilates mat instructor (BASI pilates).
Movement certifications and training.
Watching her students grow, continuous learning and finding ways to renew and enrich her practice are things she enjoys and feels grateful about.
She is open to any kind of collaboration.
